Baja mar sunset

The word 'Bahamas' is said to originate from the spanish 'baja' and 'mar', meaning short seas. It is these shallow seas that give the variations of blue that make it so beautiful, also there are no silty rivers to ruin the clarity of the waters. Ron Garan the astronaut has said "The Bahamas are definitely on the list of top ten most photogenic places on Earth. It was one of my favorite areas to photograph from space."
